Collin Recently graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s in statistics. He is happily exploring ways in which data can have a tangible positive impact on the real world, and hopes to work as a data analyst in the near future. In his downtime, he enjoys learning about other cultures through food and living an active lifestyle. Recently, he has been reading a lot of Cal Newport.
As a Data Scientist at I^2, Daniel Halteh combines a background in statistics and analytics, with a passion for data. After receiving his B.S. in Statistics from UCLA, Daniel has since worked as a Statistical Programmer at BioMarin, a biotech company in the Bay Area specializing in Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT). While there, Daniel has utilized and developed at aptitude for developing dynamic data visuals, creating Shiny applications, and leveraging clinical data to bring forth insights regarding the validity of ongoing clinical trials. Daniel has also worked as a Statistical Consultant for the UCLA Division of Undergraduate Education, where his team’s work uncovered factors negatively affecting students’ odds of academic success. Daniel’s skill set includes R, Python, Shiny, and SQL, and he is always interested in exploring new technologies.
Outside of the field, Daniel enjoys tacos, baseball, hikes, and spending time with the family.
James Lepore was present for the birth of Jacob Kohlhepp’s brainchild, Intrepid Insight, while working together at a labor economics consulting firm. After spending four years in the world of labor economics, James turned back to his roots and earned his Master’s Degree in Statistics from UCLA before moving onto an internship where he is currently learning the ropes of multi-touch attribution marketing analyses for Disney Parks and Resorts. For Intrepid Insight, James primarily serves as a sounding board for the statistical analyses utilized for the various tools and blog posts available on the site. His technical skill set includes R, Python, Stata, and MySQL.
Anthony Cervantes is a founding member of Intrepid Insight (I²). His role on the team is first, and foremost, to maintain and develop I² infrastructure. Additionally, he will be tasked with providing insight to clients on a variety of I.T. topics such as:
- Internal infrastructure (both hardware and software)
- Project planning and implementation (for custom software development)
- Data integrity (backups, storage, encryption, etc.)
- Software design (website, web application, desktop, etc.)
Professionally, Anthony is an in-house developer & network administrator for a refurbishing I.T. company, as well as a key member in the eCommerce operations. His hobbies and interests include programming, cinema, reading, and basketball.
Cindy Wang Kohlhepp
Cindy is a founding member of Intrepid Insight. She serves in the dual role of administrator and public relations director, where her main tasks include organization of Intrepid Insight’s human capital and promoting I2 initiatives through various digital platforms. Additionally, Cindy holds a M.A. in Special Education from California State University, Los Angeles.
Professionally, Cindy works as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. She is passionate about teaching children with visual impairments the necessary skills to travel and live independently. Several of her teaching lessons have been featured on the website Cane and Compass. Beyond her organizational talents, she is fluent in Mandarin and has a working knowledge of American Sign Language. Cindy’s hobbies include running, napping and blogging about her married life with Jake (another member of the Intrepid team).
Jacob Kohlhepp founded Intrepid Insight, with the goal of building an agile network of diverse minds to tackle problems in unique ways. Within the team, Jacob specializes in applying his experience in economic consulting, public policy research, statistics and data analytics to solve multidisciplinary problems.
Outside of Intrepid Insight, Jacob is in economics PhD student at UCLA. His research interests include wage setting, labor market sorting, pay equity, and the empirical impacts of public policy. Prior to starting school, Jacob worked as an associate economist/statistical programmer at a labor economics consulting firm. Jacob is a frequent writer, with work featured in Fortune, Real Clear Policy, The Washington Times, and his own blog, www.policypaladin.com. His technical skill set includes STATA, LaTeX, R, Access and VBA. In his free time, Jacob enjoys running, reading, learning to play new board/video games, and blogging about his married life with Cindy (another member of the Intrepid team).
